Preparation

What a strong first review needs

Your documents do not need to be perfect, but they must make it possible for an investment manager to understand what should happen next.

Problem and customer

State the user pain, buyer, use case, and why the timing matters now.

Product evidence

Show what has been built, tested, sold, piloted, or validated with real users.

Team logic

Explain why this team can reach the market or technical milestone faster than alternatives.

Next milestone

Be specific about whether you need capital, corporate validation, pilot access, follow-up discussion, or ecosystem connection.

Keep the first package simple

The first package should make evaluation easier, not overwhelm reviewers with every file in the company.

Pitch deck

A concise deck covering problem, solution, market, traction, business model, team, and next milestone.

One-page summary

A short written summary that lets a mentor, investor, or corporate partner route the case quickly.

Data Room starter

Company basics, product evidence, financial status, cap table, and major contracts where relevant.

Boundary note

Sensitive legal, tax, accounting, and investment terms should be reviewed with professional advisors.
